I Think He's Ready

"I told him about how it has changed my life…and I think he is ready"

One of the YFC staff, Mike Paull, and other area leaders, were in hurricane ravaged Bay St. Louis, Mississippi with a group of students on a week-long spring break service trip. John came running out of the darkness to share his exciting news about Sean, a student who began coming to Campus Life last summer. "Mike, I think he is ready. I told him about how it has changed my life…and I think he is ready".

Sean had been with a group of students at a summer festival when he met the YFC students and staff. They invited Sean to join them at a Campus Life meeting. As he got involved, Sean quickly became one of the biggest spokespeople for the group, and little by little, he began to open up to the staff. He knew that there was something missing in his life.

Even though he was carefully considering what he heard throughout the year, it wasn’t until Sean went on the spring break trip that the Gospel message became clear. As he and the others worked on people’s rooftops for three long days, Sean saw the destruction Hurricane Katrina caused, and, in the process, he began to expose his heart to the life that Christ could offer.

In the midst of the devastation, Mike sat down with Sean on a pile of bricks to discuss questions about life, death and where people spend eternity – questions that Sean could not reconcile in his mind. After Mike explained that he could KNOW where he would spend eternity, Sean decided to turn his life over to Christ.

I wish you could have been there that night, as Sean accepted Christ right there amidst the rubble. There in the presence of all the pain and loss, a new life was born!

As our staff, volunteers, and teen leaders build relationships with students through service projects, trips, and events each week, many young people are seeing the new life that Christ offers! And yet, it would not be possible without you, lining up alongside our staff with your financial support and prayers.

This month, would you consider making another gift to Youth for Christ, so that other young people can experience the hope of Jesus Christ? They will be eternally grateful for your help, and so will I.

Reaching youth, for Christ,

Dick Norton

P.S. I’ve changed the student’s name to protect his privacy.
